CAL Workers Address Teamsters Unity Conference

CAL fleet service workers Gary Welch, from Houston, and Mark Cline, from Cleveland, talked about the importance of forming a union with the Teamsters and Teamster power during the union’s 2009 Unity Conference. More than 1,200 Teamster leaders attended this year’s conference, and they gave Cline and Welch a standing ovation for their inspiring words.
Less than a month after Continental joined the Star Alliance, the airline is joining forces with United in a program to upgrade services for loyal customers.
As we form our union with the Teamsters, this move is yet another indication that a merger with United is more likely down the road. We need a Teamster contract to protect ourselves when such a merger takes place.
