The Teamsters Union has produced an update on the Continental/United merger with answers to frequently asked questions.
The Justice Department said Friday that it had approved the proposed tie-up of United and Continental airlines, after an unexpectedly speedy four-month review that paves the way for the merger to close before Thanksgiving.

We will be meeting with the Company again the week of August 16 to present our non-economic package.

Teamster negotiators have reached an agreement with Continental for a just-cause provision for all fleet service workers, which takes effect immediately. Just-cause agreements provide important protections against arbitrary or unfair termination and other forms of inappropriate workplace discipline.
Contract negotiations for CAL fleet service workers are set to begin June 29.
“When I got hired, I jumped right into trying to organize because I saw the mistreatment and the favoritism going on,” begins Reggie Robinson, one of the 8,000 CAL fleet service workers who recently joined the Teamsters Union.
